#AbuDhabi cops seize 3,790 cars for 'hard shoulder' overtaking...

Abu Dhabi police impounded 3,790 cars for one month and added 18 black points to the traffic record of their drivers after they were caught overtaking on road hard shoulders in five months, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

The motorists were also fined Dh1,600 for such an offence which the police described as one of the most dangerous traffic violations.
The Arabic language daily ‘Al Bayan’ quoted traffic police director Brigadier Hussein Al Harthi as saying the offenders were seized between May 18 and October this year.

“Those caught doing this again will be arrested and referred to the prosecutor. This is a very dangerous offence that threatens the lives of road users,” he said.
