A true survival story: On death's door, starving dog 'Alex' who was living off twigs and rocks and weighed just 43lb when he was rescued by animal lovers

A no-kill animal rescue organization in New Orleans are the reason Alex - a severely-malnourished and terrified street dog found on the brink of death - has been able to slowly regain his health. The terrified Weimaraner was saved by the non-profit, Southern Animal Foundation, who said that, despite his terrifying ordeal, has been nothing but a kind and lovely dog. 'He was still so nice and sweet and forgiving despite, obviously, the neglect he has suffered for some time,' said Deanna Theis, the woman who saved Alex.
