PHOTOS: Meet the sandcastle queen who’s decorating UAE beaches
Her fans have titled Rossen ‘Jenny the Sandcastle Girl’ after 20 years of sculpting numerous projects with sand across the globe.
The Aussie artist is currently sculpting racing camels with 50 tonnes of sand to honour the upcoming camel race at Dubai Camel Racing Club. It all started when a much younger Rossen was spending another regular day building sandcastles at the beach, when people started throwing money into her beach towel. “I felt kind of offended because I was like, ‘excuse me, I’m no beggar’, but then I noticed it was a lot of money.
“I started doing many projects for money and within six months I was making $100,000 projects in the US,” Rossen said. She added that she has done “enormous” projects, some of which used up to 30,000 tonnes of sand and as much as an acre of land.
After that, she returned to Perth in Australia, and thought that her previous projects might be the only highlight of her career.
