Mandatory military service for Emirati youth as per new law

All young Emirati men will have to undertake military service, the UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai has said.

“The new law aims to create a defensive national force to protect the country and secure our borders,” Sheikh Mohammad tweeted.HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum tweeted on Sunday that the decision had been taken at a meeting of ministers following instructions from UAE President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to establish a military service law.
