From the Philippines to Canada: Dog lovers around the world offer home to abandoned Shar-Pei Kai

Just like Paddington Bear, two-year-old Kai (left and right with kennel assistant Kirsty Morrison) was found at Ayr station last week (inset left) and offers have since rolled in from the U.S., Spain, Canada and the Philippines - making Kai the most popular dog in the history of the Scottish SPCA. 'He's been in and out of his kennels all day', said one staff member. 'He loves it'. A JustGiving page in Kai's name has raised almost £2,000 in donations and the charity, which will pay for his £1,000 eye surgery, insists the new owner will be a Scot (inset right). An investigation is under way to find Kai's original owner as the charity warned that criminals who abandon dogs can be banned from owning one for life.
