Schools remain open during first day of Dubai Tour

Dubai: All Dubai schools will remain open on Wednesday during the first day of Dubai Tour, the Ministry of Education and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) had confirmed.

The KHDA, which regulates Dubai schools, however, announced that schools affected by the traffic diversions caused by the tour can inform KHDA and have the option of closing. 

Several key roads in the city will be closed during the tour causing major traffic diversions.

The four-day international cycling event kicks off on Wednesday and ends on Saturday.

Major General Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, Assistant to Dubai Police Chief for Operations  Affairs, has called on education authorities to close Dubai school on Thursday.

The Ministry of Education has still not confirmed if schools will be shut on Thursday.
