Dubai's DPG hires contractor for Mudon project

Dubai Properties Group (DPG), a member of Dubai Holding, has announced the appointment of Shapoorji Pallonji Mideast as the principal contractor for its Mudon residential community.
The newly appointed contractor will be responsible for the construction of phase one of the project, with handovers expected to commence from mid-2014.
Shapoorji Pallonji Mideast has been contracted to complete 348 four-bedroom townhouses set in a courtyard themed master plan.
Centrally located in DPG's growing Dubailand district, Mudon offers varying sizes of land starting from 3,200 sq ft up to 8,000 sq ft, each hosting 3,800 sq foot townhouses with two living areas, a maid's room, four bathrooms and courtyard garden.
Khalid Al Malik, DPG Group CEO, said: "The appointment of Shapoorji Pallonji Mideast LLC is a major milestone in the completion of Mudon, allowing us to deliver the first phase to investors so our Mudon community becomes as successful as our other popular residential communities in Dubailand."
He said significant progress has already been made on infrastructure at the community, with substation complete and main roads, along with water, drainage and sewer networks due for completion soon.
Last September, Dubai Properties Group announced the restart of the Mudon development in Dubailand.
Announced in 2007 at a projected cost of AED40bn ($11bn), Mudon was initially intended as 73m sqft mixed use development including 3,200 villas and town houses, 8,500 apartments, in addition to retail outlets, office space, hotels, restaurants and an 11m sqft golf course.
The first phase of the project, which would have housed approximately 50,000 residents across five Arabic themed ‘zones’, was scheduled for completion in 2009, with full delivery in 2012.
