Girl's uncles force her to marry cousin to take wealth

A court in Saudi Arabia has proved that law is above all when it decided to side with a local girl whose uncles tried to force her to marry her cousin, so they will take her inherited wealth, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.
The girl told court in the Western Saudi town of Makkah that her two uncles kept refusing any suitor seeking to marry her for years until she reached the age of 30.
The girl said that she was under the pressure of marrying her cousin, adding that she rejected her uncles’ demand because of the large gap in their age and education.
“The girl told the judge that she believes her uncles were just after her wealth which she had inherited from her father.
“She said that a young man has just asked to marry her but he was rejected though she believes he is a good man,” ‘Al Madina’ daily said.
“After several sessions, the judge decided to cancel the uncles’ custody of the girl as she has no brothers and allowed her to marry that young man without the need for her uncles’ approval. The judge agreed to the marriage after he was given evidence that the groom is a good man and suitable for her.”
