Where to find best alcohol in Dubai?

Many of us xpats love a bit of alcohol, especially on the weekends or special events like Christmas, but as Dubai is a Muslim Emirate, it is not as widely available as it would normally be back in your home country.

If you are on holiday in Dubai, there is no point in you reading any of this as you cannot buy alcohol from stores. You may drink in bars, clubs and hotels, but you cannot go to an off-licence and purchase anything with alcohol init.

If you are a resident of Dubai, not Muslim, 21 or over and earning a minimum of AED 3,000 per month, you may purchase alcohol from off-licences as long as you have a Liquor Licence. The below off-licences are located outside of Dubai, but they are tax free! Not a lot is taxed in Dubai, but alcohol is. The tax on alcohol in Dubai is usually that of around 30%, so in short it will be 30% cheaper traveling the extra few miles.

Note: Sharjah is a dry Emirate and alcohol is banned. Although many do it, if you are caught carrying alcohol through Sharjah, you may receive a fine or worse. Recently a scam has been taking place in the Sharjah area whereby the scammers will try to take money from those carrying alcohol through
