One for the record books? Dubai Garden Glow opens

Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid inaugurated today a new Dubai landmark which is being tagged as the world’s largest themed garden comprising 10 different themed landmarks, including a Burj Khalifa replica made entirely of medicine bottles.
The Dubai Municipality flagship Dubai Garden Glow is a Dh30 million project  which will officially open to visitors from December 23, 2015 right through April 2015.
Speaking to Emirates 24|7, Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said Dubai Garden Glow is poised to be the next tourism landmark for the emirate, with plans to extend the initial opening phase from April to Ramadan.

He said: "Dubai Garden Glow is part of our drive towards a sustainable ‎environment.  Over 32 installations have been created using recycled materials, including old medicine bottles, with all the creations using energy saving LED lighting to power it."

"We are expecting 5,000 people daily during the initial period and hope it will increase over time," he added.

When quizzed about making this a year-round project, Lootah continued: "We have already extended its opening from April to Ramadan. And this is just the first phase. We have other plans that will be announced later."

Lootah also didn't rule out having a similar concept across other Dubai Municipality parks in the Emirate, saying other surprises were in store.

Dubai Garden Glow is spread across 40 acres, with 32 installations made by 150 artists in ‎200,000 man hours.

‎Access to Dubai Garden Glow is from Gates 6 and 7 at Zabeel Park.

Other experiences will include the Masai Mara wildebeest migration, along with the wonder of tulip fields that the Dutch have until now taken pride in.
Dubai Garden Glow offers two diverse experiences, ‘Art by day and Glow by night’, with unique installations, along with a sparkling garden that glitters in the evening.
The themed destination in Zabeel Park will also feature several live performances by international, regional and local artists and acrobats.
Some live musical performances have been conceptualised to showcase the UAE culture to the world.
Younger children will have a dedicated area where they can enjoy ‘learning with fun’.
The venue will also include several games and fun activities to keep them engaged.
There will also be a large food street that will offer delicacies from around the world.
Show stoppers touted for the Guinness Book of World Records include a Porcelain Grand Sheikh Zayed Mosque made up of 90,000 porcelain cups, plates and spoons, along with a Burj Khalifa recreated with 330,000 small medicine bottles filled with coloured water and stands over 12 metres (36 feet) tall.
Another highlight is the light show – an enchanting display of lights, never seen before, says DM.
In addition to the above,  Dubai Garden Glow will also be seen showcasing interesting concepts for the younger children like the talking tree, panda paradise, dino camp and candy land to name few.
Tickets for Dubai Garden Glow will be priced at Dh60 per person, with free admission for children below three years.
In a statement earlier, Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality said: “Dubai Garden Glow is a vision of Dubai’s commitment towards providing continuous recreation, leisure and entertainment to the local residents and tourists visiting Dubai.
“With Dubai's success story as being the leading commercial and trading hub for the Middle East, Dubai is now focusing on positioning itself as a leading destination within the entertainment and leisure sectors aiming to attract the widest audience of tourists, covering all age groups, nationalities and activities,” he added.
Dubai Garden Glow has been developed by The Retailers Investment group and powered by Dubai Municipality.
