As part of events marking the Public Transport Day on November 1, 2014, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is rolling out a host of events relating to the marine transit modes during the Public Transport Week, which kicked off on Sunday [October 26, 2014] and will continue until the day of the main event.

These events include scheduled cruises on board the Dubai Ferry bound to The World Islands, in addition to a series of traditional events at Al Ghubaiba Station.

The trip will last for one-and-a-half hour and starts at 5pm.

The normal fee is Dh50 for silver class, and Dh75 for gold class on October 28, as well as November 1, 2014.

Hussain Khansaheb, Director of Marine Transport, RTA Public Transport Agency and Director of the Public Transport Day event, said: “Events of the Public Transport Week began with the running of scheduled journeys aboard the Dubai Ferry from Ghubaiba Marine Transport Station to the World Islands project in order to acquaint the public with this vital project which will redefine quality marine projects worldwide.”

Explaining marine transport events launched during the Public Transport Week events, Khansaheb said that a host of diverse heritage events were being held at Ghubaiba Station; a model of integrated public transport modes (metro, buses, water transport) where a cocktail of events were held with the objective of stimulating the public.
“Through staging this event for the fifth year running, we are seeking to bolster the role of Dubai in supporting efforts aimed at improving the environment, achieving sustainable development, and encouraging people to use public transport means in general and marine transit modes in particular,” he said.
