#Dubai #RTA to train and monitor bus drivers

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will continue to train bus drivers, said Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director during a tour to Jebel Ali bus depot.

He said that RTA would analyse their training deliverables on the ground from time to time to ensure they provide top-class services, monitor their daily attitudes, reward drivers showing good performance, and will show no tolerance to those flouting rules.
The depot has a capacity to handle about 300 buses and consists of 24 bays. It has the ability to accommodate 36 buses at a time, and daily works at the depot include washing, cleaning and refueling the buses. The station premises can accommodate about 50 employees and has residential quarters for up to 300 bus drivers.
He also inspected the mobile library project, a standard RTA bus that is being restructured and converted to act as a mobile library. Maintenance work is outsourced to contractors for the next three years.
