Trio cleared of wrecking Ferrari car

Dubai: Three men have been cleared of wrecking a Ferrari car by jumping on its roof and hood.
The trio, a British businessman, M.M., 32, his countryman visitor, B.A., 33, and a Pakistani driver, R.A., were said to have wrecked the hood and roof of the Ferrari that belonged to a British realty developer, K.B.
The men were also charged with threatening to kill a Russian woman for not opening the door of her flat when they came searching for K.B.
Citing lack of substantiated evidence, the Dubai Court of First Instance acquitted the trio of any wrongdoing.

The British suspects entered a not guilty plea and dismissed the accusation of threatening to kill the Russian woman, T.S.
Presiding judge Mohammad Jamal cleared the trio after the plaintiff failed to provide the court with evidence that the Ferrari had been damaged.
Defence lawyer Eisa Bin Haidar provided the court with a written waiver obtained from K.B.
“The suspects did not commit any wrong and they did not threaten the Russian woman. Prosecutors also brought in unsubstantiated evidence against the suspect. Prosecution witnesses gave contradicting statements,” Bin Haidar said.
T.S. claimed that the incident happened when she was at her place around 11pm in November 2012.
“When I looked through the peephole, I saw a number of men standing behind the door… then someone covered the peephole with his hand. When I did not answer the doorbell, one of them said they would kill me. They kicked at the door. This time, they asked me K.B.’s whereabouts… I told them I did not know anything. Somebody shouted: ‘We will kill you if you do not open’. I called up the security guard, who came up in two minutes. They ran away,” the Russian said.
Guard’s testimony
K.B. alleged that he rushed to the woman’s flat once she informed him over the phone that she was threatened.
“She was crying when she told me what happened. Once I reached the building, the security guard informed me that the men had jumped over my Ferrari car,” the developer claimed.
The Bangladeshi guard testified that the defendants had ignored him when he asked them about damaging the Ferrari car.
The primary ruling remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
