Today is the beginning of winter in UAE

Autumn season ended in the Gulf on Monday and winter will start today (Tuesday), when day time will begin to increase, according to a Saudi expert.

Officially, today, Tuesday, December 22, is the first day of winter season in the UAE and the region.

“Autumn lasted 91 days this year and it ended Monday…night will start to get shorter and day hours will increase,” said Abdullah Al Masnad, an astronomer who teaches at Al Qasseem University in Central Saudi Arabia.

Quoted by Sabq newspaper, he said that since the start of Autumn, night time has increased by four seconds a day. “The increase will stop on Monday and the day will start increasing gradually,” he added.

According to astronomers, Tuesday will have the shortest day and longest night of the year.
